District Park

A bird’s eye view of Great Ashby reveals the Great Ashby District Park. Tucked between Serpentine and Thirlmere woods over to the east of the neighbourhood – it provides vast open grassland for residents to enjoy.

Visitors will find a small but adequate car park, a large playground - with swings for toddlers and older children, a slide and various climbing frames – all bordered by grassland with access into the historic wooded areas.
Park gates open at 7:30am and close at 5:00pm each day.

The Countryside Management Service (CMS), working in partnership with North Hertfordshire District Council (NHDC) who owns the park, have developed a five year Management Plan for Great Ashby Woodlands & District Park. Improvements to the park involving planting new trees and erecting protective fencing, started at the end of 2015. Part of the action plan to conserve the wildlife and landscape of the park (now and in the future), keeping it clean, well maintained and welcoming for visitors.
